most of you who follow facebook already know this BUT the big climb was yesterday and i'm happy to report that i'm still alive...barely. it was brutal and i'm pretty sure i'm never doing it again. i completed all 69 flights of stairs in a mere 24 minutes...the best time was 7 minutes so there you go. i was actually surprised at how tough it really was. i expected my body to take it a little harder than it did but the worst part is the breathing! i thought my lungs were going to explode and my throat is very scratchy. seriously, i sound like a 75 year old lady with a smokers cough. gross. anywho, unless i do some serious breathing exercises, i doubt i'll ever do it again. BUT i'm glad i did it. thanks to all who donated to this GREAT cause!!

Good job, Shawna! I could NEVER do that... :)
thanks! and i got some scoop from a friend of a friend who is a firefighter who also did this. he did it once with all his gear and then again as a racer and said it was much more difficult as a racer because of the air quality, etc. with the gear he had fresh oxygen, but as a racer, you breathe in all the nasty recycled air. apparently, they call it the climb cough. IF, and that's a BIG IF, i ever do this again, i need to find an oxygen tank. ha!
